Our paper works traverse analog and digital, exploring ideas within both traditional and contemporary craftsmanship to create works of extreme intricacy.

The paper works collection push the boundaries of the material and the limits of possibilities in collage and construction. These pieces are created using custom developed software and laser specialised machines resulting in highly detailed laser cut works on layered paper with some works comprising over a thousand individual parts.

Much of the smaller works are explorations into how patterns are perceived as they dissolve or erode across a surface - how the brain is able to complete a shape even if it no longer exists and in addition erosion of lines and shapes helps find new approaches to pattern development.

These works are essentially a very complex series of ‘cuts’ or holes into paper. Even the smallest works consist of approximately 10,000 holes across numerous layers. The development of each piece was in part performed algorithmically by computing the relationships between each of the holes, rearranging them hierarchically and ‘dissolving’ them across the many layers of paper.
